Melodie Savage-Hanson, M. Ed

Ms. Hanson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education, as well as her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She also holds and maintains all the appropriate certifications for the Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) and the newly formed MA Department of Early Education & Care (EEC).
Ms. Hanson began her professional career as a public school teacher, teaching a number of grade levels including special education. As her family grew, she opened a family child care which she ran for 6 years while earning her Master’s degree. Then, it was onto to a management position at Head Start where she oversaw 40 classrooms / 100 staff members in 10 cities and towns for another 6 years. She then began her own consulting firm. The opportunity came about in 1997 for her to become an Accreditation Specialist for the National Association for the Education of Young Children, (NAEYC) grants that are supported and funded by the state of Massachusetts Department of Education and Early Care. Ms. Hanson continues in this capacity and is currently working with MA state grants to assist in greatly improving the qualifications of early childhood staff as well as to increase the competence of educators as they work directly with children in their care.
In addition, Professor Hanson has remained on staff at Massasoit Community College for 19 years teaching the full variety of evening education courses that are part of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
As an early childhood professional, Ms. Hanson brings to Shining Wonders Preschool, not only a dream come true for herself, but a willingness to share all that she has learned and experienced out in the field of early childhood with those who want to know. This is evident in many facets of the preschool program, from the classroom design, to the developmentally appropriate and closely monitored curriculum, to her selection of warm, diligent and knowledgeable staff, to the very informative Family Handbook. She considers one of the most integral aspects of her program to be the many times she makes herself available to parents and staff for that personal connection, no matter the reason.
With such a variety of roles in the field of education, the hope she senses when speaking to a parent and the sparkle she finds in each child, it is no wonder that Ms. Hanson keep a positive and cheerful eye to the future of our world.
Miss Tami (Tami Manchester)
Miss Tami joined our team in November of 2010 with such enthusiasm, she was ready to burst with happiness, like the holidays had come early for her.
Miss Tami grew in Roslindale, Ma, one of 6 children and the only daughter. She now lives in Taunton with her husband, Ken and their three children. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State College and has taught preschoolers, kindergarteners and a variety of groups with special needs. Her natural ability to relate to people of all ages is evident in her warm welcoming teaching style and her genuine effort to “reach and teach” all children as individuals.
Miss Tami is very approachable and conversational, with both children and family members. She can often be found interacting in an animated fashion amongst a group of children in all the areas of the classroom, be it the math center, the writing center or putting on a puppet show with funny voices and antics. Whether the theme of the week be “Acorns & Oak Trees” or “Going on a Bear Hunt”, her creativity shines through, at a place where “shining” is the key objective. When not at school, her favorite things to do with family include walking on the beach with the family dog, cooking at home and dining out, Italian style. Her favorite color is sunny yellow, just like her sunny personality. We welcome her with her infectious and non-stop positive attitude, her deep understanding of how children learn and her sincere love of being around them.
